Priority lines of business
Production
Bashneft Group is one of Russia’s leading
vertically integrated oil companies that
produces and refines oil as well as sells
its oil and petroleum products. In 2011,
Bashneft Group’s revenue from oil sales
represented approximately 19% of the
Group’s total revenue, revenue from pe-
troleum products sales accounted for 79%
(as compared with 17% and 80%, respec-
tively, in 2010).
As of the end of 2011, JSOC Bashneft
ranks eighth in terms of oil production
volume and had the highest production
growth rate among the Russian oil com-
panies.
Most of the oil and gas fields for which
the Group holds licences are located in
the Republic of Bashkortostan. Bash-
neft also holds licences for oilfields in

the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District
(Yugra), the Nenets Autonomous District,
the Orenburg region and the Republic
of Tatarstan. About 90% of the Group’s
fields are in commercial production. The
majority of these fields are in the late
(final) production stage. To enhance the
competitiveness of oil from Bashkorto-
stan and to reduce the production de-
cline rate, the Group:
uses modern well construction technolo-
gies and enhanced oil recovery methods
at its fields;
optimizes the production management
system;
improves performance at all production
stages;
takes measures to increase energy ef-
ficiency.
In the last few years, the Group has con-
ducted surveys and exploration searching
for new oilfields both in the Republic of
Bashkortostan and in other regions of Rus-
sia in order to expand its resource base.
